Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi's suspense mystery Merry Christmas is garnering applause from the audience and movie critics. However, the movie isn't always able to convert the reward into container office figures however fans are nonetheless watching for a sequel of the film to be rolled out soon. In a recent speak with India Today, the director of the film, Sriram Raghavan, pointed out the plans to make Merry Christmas' sequel and lots greater. In the interview, the filmmaker denied any plans for the film's sequel and said that he deliberate this as a 'small movie'. 

''I think of what is going to appear however will it's dramatically exciting? Is it worth displaying or is it first-class to be left with the feeling of it’s a Christmas special and what you sense is more important and this is something that needs to stay,'' he said. 

Speaking on how he came up with the title, he delivered, ''I saved taking into account Hindi names. I thought of names like Dev Anand’s Baat Ek Raat Ki, Raat Akeli Hai. There is every other song in Evening in Paris, Raat Ke Humsafar, so I became taking into account all these names with Raat.
